Black Friday online sales skyrocketed this year, blowing past the $3 billion mark for the first time. Totaling $3.4 billion, 2016's Black Friday sales feast topped 2015 by 21%.
This year's ecommerce Black Friday sales were aided greatly by mobile shoppers, who accounted for 1/3 of all online sales. By the end of Black Friday, mobile sales had reached $1.2 billion -- yet another record and also the first time mobile sales topped $1 billion.
Overall, retailers should be pleased with this year's Black Friday ecommerce stats, which included a 9% boost to e-retail sites as well as a 39% spike in peak hours traffic.
